Job Boards
Despite the current economic climate, the one fact remains that finding good staff will continue to be a challenge. The need to spread your limited advertising budget around a wider range of sourcing channels is a smart strategy to maximise your existing advertising dollar and your reach. Job Portals is Australia's largest network of specialised employment websites with 34 active sites covering a variety of industries and occupations.
RECRUITadvantage has recently completed an integration with Job Portals that now enables clients to easily post to all the sites on the Job Portals Network. To take advantage of a wider jobseeker market, please email your interest to info@jobportals.com.au or visit www.jobportals.com.au/promotions to view the full offer and subscribe.
An innovative job platform is up for sale
This job platform, www.hiremeforjobs.com.au was launched in 2007 with a view to facilitating ‘match making’ for job seekers and recruiters. Some of the innovations in this job board include video profiles of job seekers; and photos and short profiles of potential job seekers allowing recruiters to contact potential candidates directly for interviews. These innovations were even replicated in various forms by other recruiters and job boards. The job board was owned by Resource Monitoring and Development Group Pty Ltd, a company after 12 years of international consulting work is winding up in mid-May 2008
The website was not intended to serve just as a job board, but more as a match making platform for both parties. Whilst the focus of www.hiremeforjobs.com.au was more on the JOB SEEKERS (the name may also suggest so), it has the potential to serve both job seekers and recruiters on an equal footing.
The job board is available for sell for a nominal price. You do not have to go through the hassle of a business transfer if you like, rules permitting. They are selling this as a domain name transfer and full authority to trade under the name www.hiremeforjobs.com.au. The new buyer owns, maintains, promotes and retains the site and GROWS the business.
Please send questions, offers etc to Mark at rmdgaus@gmail.com.

General Public News
A continued changing economic environment seems to be the ongoing trend in the Australian recruitment marketplace because recruitment organisations are having difficulties finding good consultants. Also the market is becoming more and more competitive and the general recruitment fees and rates are going up even against the laws of supply and demand. This can only be explained by the notion of recruiters adding more value, which makes sense in a candidate short market, but would it hold true in a candidate rich market with more candidate availability? It would be interesting to see that recruiters are finding it easier to get quality candidates, again showing a strong sign of change in current market conditions.
This month I went overseas to visit some of our clients and I had the great pleasure to have a chat with recruiters in the USA, UK, Russia, Switzerland and Holland. It was interesting to see the high degree of difference on vibes and views from each of the recruiters, depending on where they operate and the difference in economic alignment across geographies and markets. This was due to the contrast between the bullish outlooks from Russian recruiters, dealing with unprecedented expansion and growth versus the somewhat ominous views from American recruiters, forced to look into cost cutting strategies under current market constraints. In any case, these changing times propose incredible learning opportunities for recruiters around the world.
turboRECRUIT product News
At our headquarters in Sydney, things have been very hectic in a number of fronts, including a substantial number of new implementations, lots of new product development and a general “feel good” positive vibe in the business. It is good to see such a great team delivering consistent value to our clients.
I am very excited about the fact that we also completed this month a number of features in turboRECRUIT, which will allow our flagship product to cope a lot better with the specific demands of contract and temporary assignments, and other ad hoc projects.
Next month we will be heading towards “alternative channels” land, exploring the all reaching Worlds of Google, Facebook, Second Life, LinkedIn and so many alternative sourcing channels and their applications to turboRECRUIT and to the recruitment industry in general.
