| Company News RECRUITadvantage has been sponsoring many events in order to generate more brand awareness in the market place and further establish our turboRECRUIT products as an industry leader. The most recently sponsored event was at an RCSA event in Christchurch where Jafeth Rodriguez, Chief Innovations Officer at RECRUITadvantage had the opportunity to introduce Carl Camden, President and Chief Executive of Kelly Services. This event was a great opportunity for us to partner up again with the RCSA. In the month of October we will be sponsoring two events. One is Recruitment Extra, Recruitment Excellence Awards and Savage Seminar. Leading independent recruitment magazine, Recruitment Extra, recently announced the launch of the REA’s, (Recruitment Excellence Awards) 2008. The REA Awards mark an industry first for the Australian recruitment agency sector and aim to highlight best practice in recruitment and recognise innovation and quality throughout the industry. With much criticism often thrown at the recruitment industry, Recruitment Extra and its sponsors are driving the initiative that looks set to raise the bar in recruitment and showcase some of the quality service and business models that exist in Australia. The categories selected for the awards reflect a desire to steer away from the traditional route of placing individuals in the spotlight and focus on business models, company structure and service, and driving industry best. A panel of independent judges will assess the award applications. Judges have been selected for their relevant experience and exposure to industry and possess in-depth knowledge in the areas of business performance, communication, learning and development and creative strategy. Categories include Best Start-Up Best Boutique Agency Best National Agency Best Multi-National Agency Best Recruitment & Retention Strategy Best Learning & Development Plan Best Recruitment Agency Website Best Candidate Management Program Best Brand Deloitte Growth Award The Awards winners will be announced at a 3 course gala dinner to be held in Sydney on 24th October 2008 at Sydney’s Dockside. For more information on the gala dinner please visit: www.recruitmentextra.com.au and click on the Awards logo. Views from the Chief Innovations Officers Desk 2008 and our market realities of this month… Firstly, I would like to say a Special Thanks to the RECRUITadvantage team regarding all their hard work and efforts updating all the new job boards in a quick and timely fashion. I really appreciate the dedication this team has shown to achieving projects proficiently. Saying all this we, have been very productive from the product perspective. We are doing a lot of work on turboRECRUIT in particular. This month we did a number of changes to the job order interface to manage a lot better the dichotomy of processes associated with perm and temp recruitment. Interestingly enough, we are hearing a trend happening associated with temporary positions. As you tend to see in times of uncertainty and change, temporary positions are ranking a bit higher, at least among the people in the industry we talk to on a regular basis, whilst perm positions are tending to de-accelerate in growth terms. We are getting very good feedback on turboTIME, our new electronic timesheets solution. We are hearing that one of the interesting features of the product, besides its ease of use and configurability is its ability to manage expenses. For more information please feel free to contact your account manager. New and improved SMS capabilities We have noticed that our new clients have been asking for SMS capabilities as part of the turboRECRUIT package. There is some new functionality with turboSMS where recruiters can now send SMS response as an email and can retrieve SMS. Also, all candidate response SMS is recorded in the Candidate Activities, allowing recruiters quick and easy communication with their candidate/s. Recruiters can simply send SMS to one or more candidates both local and internationally. Recruiters also, have the choice to allow both local and international incoming messages. We noticed that the typical usage is 100 SMS a month. That is less then $20 a month!!!! We Guarantee: • Business quality SMS using Australian T1 carriers. • Delivery in 3 to 5 seconds. • 100% reliability. • 2-way messaging. • Long message capability. Again, for more information please feel free to contact your account manager. New Job Boards Now checking out the job board world… We have been measuring job board ad numbers for a number of years for the Australian market. In terms of industry trends, we decided to have another look at current job advertisement trends to see if we can reach some conclusions of our own. I will explore this topic in more detail next month, but at the high level, the average number of online job ads in Australia (per week) grew from 71,000 in Aug 2003 to 105,000 in Aug 2004 (48%) then to 132,000 (26%) in March 2005, then to 184,000 in September 2006 (40%), then to 250,000 in June 2007 (36%). To June 2008, we jumped to 352,000 ads, another 41% increase in one year. If we see the trends on a month-by-month basis, we will see some signs of a softening market, but looking at the market over a longer period of time, we can say it has indeed grown in a healthy and consistent manner over recent years. Again, more on this topic in our next issue… If you like you can blog your thoughts at blog site. This month we came through also with a few new job boards in a number of countries, including dreamjob.com.au in Australia, bigjobsite.co.uk, Wireless Mobile Jobs and JobSite in the UK, among others. By the way, DreamJob.com.au is an Australian Job Search website that allows recruiters to post their job advertisements on the DreamJob network of sites for FREE. Job hunters can search by category, state, suburb or keyword and have the ability to save jobs to their own saved list, subscribe to RSS feeds or subscribe to Email Alerts of their searches. DreamJob are offering all recruiters, or companies, unlimited listings on the DreamJob.com.au website at no charge. turboRECRUIT customers simply have to request that their job ads are also posted on DreamJob.com.au and they will be automatically listed. Please email Andrew Davis on andrew@dreamjob.com.au for more information. Please feel free to have a look at our blog website for more interesting recruitment industry news. That’s all for me for now… See you next month! Keep tuned, be well and embrace change gratefully.
